Singapore’s fresh fruit market remained relatively subdued in Week 35, with overall buying activity still cautious despite the Mid-Hungry Ghost Festival period.

While the broader market continues to move at a slower pace, several categories are showing meaningful changes in supply and pricing.

Blueberries Show Firmer Pricing

Blueberries are one of the categories showing signs of firmer pricing this week.

Supply remains available from several origins, including Peru, South Africa and Zimbabwe, but differences in brands and fruit sizes make direct week-on-week comparisons less straightforward.

From the market, however, pricing appears to have strengthened, suggesting that buyers may face slightly firmer replacement costs for selected blueberry specifications.

Lemon Supply Appears More Stable

After earlier supply fluctuations, lemon availability appears to have stabilised.

This should help bring greater consistency to the market, although pricing will continue to depend on origin, size and incoming supply.

For buyers, the current market appears more balanced compared with periods of heavier supply pressure.

Hami Melon Supply Remains Tight — For Now

Hami melon availability remains limited at present.

The situation may improve shortly, with additional containers expected toward the end of the week and into the following week.

If arrivals come through as expected, buyers should see better availability, although the market will still need to absorb the incoming volume.

Mixed Wholesale Price Movements

A comparison of like-for-like wholesale quotations between Week 34 and Week 35 shows a mixed market rather than a broad upward or downward trend.

Among the directly comparable products:

  • 4 SKUs recorded lower prices

  • 2 SKUs increased

  • 5 SKUs remained unchanged

Some of the more noticeable reductions were seen in Australian strawberries, Ecuador pitahaya and selected plum lines.

Meanwhile, Spanish Donut Peach prices moved higher by around 5%, while several U.S. grape lines remained stable.

This mixed movement reflects a market where individual fruit categories are being driven more by their own supply positions than by a single overall trend.

Shine Muscat Remains Highly Competitive at Retail

One of the clearest retail signals this week is China Shine Muscat.

A wide range of Shine Muscat offers continues to appear across Singapore’s retail market, with some retailers running particularly aggressive promotional prices.

The number of listings suggests that availability remains strong, creating a highly competitive environment for the category.

For consumers, this can mean attractive buying opportunities. For the trade, however, the abundance of offers also means greater pricing pressure and the need to differentiate through fruit quality, presentation, size and consistency.

Apple Prices Remain an Important Market Reference

Apples continue to be widely represented across Singapore’s retail channels and remain a useful benchmark when comparing wholesale and retail market positioning.

As always, direct comparisons need to take into account variety, origin, size, grade and pack format, as these can create significant differences between apparently similar products.

Market Outlook

Overall, Singapore’s fresh fruit market remains relatively quiet.

Supply conditions are improving in some areas, while selected categories such as blueberries are showing firmer pricing. Honey melon availability should improve if the expected containers arrive, while highly available products such as Shine Muscat continue to face strong retail competition.

For buyers and retailers, the current environment remains selective rather than broadly bullish or bearish. Close attention to individual origins, specifications and arrival programmes will continue to be important in the weeks ahead.
