Singapore Wholesale Fruit Market Update – Week 30, 2026

Jul 26
3 min read

Singapore’s wholesale fresh produce market remained price-sensitive in Week 30, with supply pressure continuing across several key fruit categories.

While buyers are benefiting from softer prices in products such as blueberries, lemons, lychees and selected mandarins, availability remains tighter for certain premium apple and grape specifications. This creates a mixed buying environment: plentiful supply in some categories, but a need to secure limited products early.

Blueberry Supply Continues to Build

Blueberries remain one of the most closely watched categories this week.

Supply from Peru and Zimbabwe is abundant, while diverted containers have also added volume to the Singapore market. Comparable blueberry quotations generally softened during the week as importers worked through available stocks.

Further Peruvian blueberry arrivals are expected next week, which may continue to place downward pressure on prices. Buyers should have more options, although fruit size, condition and shelf life should remain important considerations when comparing offers.

For retailers and food-service operators planning blueberry promotions, the increased supply may provide useful buying opportunities.

Lemon Oversupply Keeps Prices Under Pressure

The lemon market remains heavily supplied.

Ongoing oversupply has continued to compress wholesale prices, with sellers competing to move available stocks. The market is therefore expected to remain favourable for buyers in the near term, particularly where purchasing decisions can accommodate different counts or brands.

However, buyers should continue to assess fruit condition carefully, as lower pricing does not always indicate consistent quality across all available stocks.

Premium China Fuji Apples Remain Tight

Enquiries for premium-grade China Fuji apples have increased, but supply appears limited.

The shortage is particularly noticeable for smaller counts, beginning from approximately size 72 onwards. Buyers requiring premium colour, appearance and consistent sizing may therefore face fewer choices than those purchasing standard commercial grades.

Early planning and specification confirmation will be important for customers requiring premium Fuji apples for retail displays, gifting programmes or higher-end food-service use.

Mixed Conditions Across the Grape Market

The grape category is currently divided between limited availability in some imported packs and strong supply pressure in China-origin fruit.

Pre-packed Egyptian grapes in the 10 x 500g format remain limited. Customers requiring this retail-ready specification may need to confirm availability early or consider alternative origins and pack formats.

In contrast, China Shine Muscat prices have fallen sharply. More Chinese exporters are attempting to enter overseas markets, increasing competition and placing substantial pressure on prices.

This may create opportunities for buyers, but quality can vary between exporters. Attention should be given to berry size, sweetness, bunch condition, packaging and cold-chain handling rather than price alone.

Other Notable Market Movements

China Da Gui Wei lychee recorded one of the largest week-on-week reductions among comparable quotations.

Australian Royal Honey Murcott mandarins also moved lower, while Canadian Lapin cherries and selected stonefruit recorded more moderate declines. Several established United States grape lines were broadly stable or slightly softer.

Overall, no meaningful like-for-like price increase was recorded among the main comparable products reviewed this week. The general direction of the market remains soft, although product-specific shortages continue to affect selected premium specifications.

Buying Outlook for the Coming Week

The most important developments to monitor are:

  • Further blueberry arrivals from Peru and their effect on market pricing

  • Continued stock pressure in lemons

  • Availability of premium China Fuji apples in smaller counts

  • Limited Egyptian retail-ready grape packs

  • Quality and price differences among China Shine Muscat exporters

The present market offers opportunities for buyers prepared to balance price, quality and arrival timing. Categories with abundant supply may support promotions, while limited premium products should be secured earlier.
